Unfairly Dismissed
I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction... Long story short I worked in an environment that emotionally it was toxic and dangerous.
My boss was and still is a big bully that all of the employees are scared of. I was fired two weeks ago stating she just no longer needed my services.
That is not true because I was the only Cruelty Officer she had and she put a new person in that position that has no training and does not know the ORC laws for animal cruelty. I was the last one at the shelter that would stand up to her.
Other people still at the shelter are very scared and don't know what to do.
How can I help myself and my ex-coworkers? I live in Ohio and have talked to many attorneys. They all state toxic and dangerous work place is something different than what I am trying to go for with her bullying us around.
What can I do? Is there a law that can help me?
Shelley's Response
Hi, Sorry to hear you have had such a rough time. Unfortunately I cannot provide legal advice.
However, in most states/countries bullying is covered by anti-discrimination legislation and/or fair work practices legislation.
If your attorneys have suggested that they are unable to mount a legal challenge for you in this instance, then my suggestion would be to move on.
Your emotional well-being would be much better served to focus upon finding a new position where your gifts and talents are celebrated.
I know that may seem unfair (you obviously feel that you have lost this job through no fault of your own), however, I'm a big proponent of 'things happen for a reason' so take the learning you need from this situation and focus forward with a positive expectation for the future. Who knows a dream job may be just around the corner for you.
I certainly wish you well.
