Principle Centered Leadership

How does principle centered leadership apply in planning, motivating, organizing and controlling?

I'm guessing you are mainly referring to the controlling part in this question?

Many people confuse principle centered leadership with having no boundaries or rules by which to run their business. And nothing could be further from the truth.

Using a principle centered leadership model you certainly do work to limit the number of rules and regulations. Instead your intent is to make good decisions, which are based upon principles that support the organizational culture and the high performance of the organization.

Obviously you need to develop these principles - which should be done as part of your organization design (or redesign). See this article on how to create workplace principles.

When you empower people to make good decisions, based upon principles that are engrained in the culture, the need for controlling is minimized.

When you minimize controls and maximize flexibility (with good decision making) you create an organization that is nimble and able to respond quickly to the needs of its customers and its people
