Charisma, Intelligence, Practical Mind, Will To Do It

by Rafael

Charisma: A good leader must have a natural charisma. By that I mean a natural presence that attracts people's attention towards him. It may be a strong and/or pleasant voice, an attractive appearance, a special way to interact with others or even the ability to know what to say, to which person, and at the right time.

This kind of “magnetism” will help getting people’s attention, trust and even admiration or sympathy. All those things will be of great help to the leader when working with them.

Intelligence: It's no use being a good leader if you don't know what to do in the first place. So, a leader must be bright enough to have good ideas and analyze whether his subordinates are doing a fine job or not.

When something goes wrong, or an incident changes the situation, a capable leader must adapt his project so things get back to normal and everything can be finished properly and according to the deadline.

Practical Mind: A leader must know how to get things done, how to make then as fast and as efficiently as possible.

Planning and a good team won't make a nice result if the work itself is not done. One must follow instructions, take in consideration deadlines, what has to be done and how, how many subordinates are available and other things. It’s also necessary to spend as few resources as possible in order to avoid wasting money.

Will to do it: Even if he has to fight against all the odds, if a great leader really wants to accomplish a task, he'll eventually find a way to do it.

If it has a meaning to him, it's even better because he'll do everything to reach his goal. On the other hand, even someone considered a leader may not achieve success if he’s not motivated enough with what he’s doing.
